Dan Snyder Agrees to Sell Washington Commanders
NFL Investigation Finds Harassment, Misconduct
Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has agreed in principle to sell the team following an NFL investigation that found he sexually harassed a team employee and engaged in other misconduct.
The NFL announced the findings of its investigation on Thursday, October 27, 2023, after a year-long probe into allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct within the Commanders organization.
The investigation, led by former U.S. Attorney Beth Wilkinson, found that Snyder had sexually harassed a team employee and created a hostile work environment for female employees.
The NFL's findings come after a series of leaks of toxic emails from former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden, which prompted the league to launch a broader investigation into the workplace culture of NFL teams.
Snyder, who has owned the Commanders since 1999, has denied the allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct. However, the NFL's findings have led to increasing pressure on him to sell the team.
The Commanders are expected to be sold to a new ownership group led by Josh Harris and David Blitzer, who currently own the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.
