Boston Marathon 2023 Winners
Evans Chebet and Hellen Obiri Take Top Honors
Evans Chebet of Kenya and Hellen Obiri took home gold in the men's and women's races, respectively, at the 127th Boston Marathon this past weekend. The pair outperformed a field of elite runners to cross the finish line in record time.
Impressive Performances
Chebet, 36, ran a time of 2:06:51, breaking the course record set in 2011. Obiri, 32, ran a time of 2:25:22, making her the first Kenyan woman to win the Boston Marathon since 1980.
Both victories were particularly impressive considering the challenging conditions experienced during the race, including rain, wind, and cold temperatures. The weather did not deter Chebet and Obiri, who remained focused and determined throughout the 26.2-mile course.
